Information and online registration

Baptism is the beginning of our life in Christ, and makes us members of the Church community. The Springbank Baptismal Team is honoured to assist you as you prepare for your child’s Baptism. Their goal, and that of the parish family, is to make the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism meaningful for you and your family and to be there helping you in any way they can as you raise your child in the Catholic faith. After filling out the form below you will be contacted by a member of our Baptismal Team to discuss preparation and scheduling of the baptism. We are usually scheduling about three months in advance. For more information please contact Mary Catherine Bishop at

The sacrament of Reconciliation gives us the opportunity to turn away from sin, embrace new life, and experience God’s unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others. Baptized children who are seven years of age or older may begin preparation to receive both the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist by registering at the parish or online. Registration packages will be available at the parish starting in September. Stay tuned for more information coming in the fall.

First Holy Communion

In the Eucharist we partake of Christ’s body and blood together, as members of his Body, the Church. The regular reception of this sacrament strengthens our bond with the risen Christ and the community that gathers each weekend. Baptized children who are seven years of age or older begin preparation to receive the Eucharist (Holy Communion) for the first time, after having prepared for and celebrated the sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). Stay tuned for more information coming in the fall about preparation for this sacrament.

The sacrament of Confirmation deepens the graces and the blessings of the Holy Spirit received at Baptism. Through Confirmation one is strengthened anew by the Spirit so that one can live out the Christian life more fully. The typical time for parishioners to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation here at St. George is in grade 8.  Yet the preparation program itself is open to anyone who has already been baptized in the Church and received First Reconciliation and First Communion.  Stay tuned for more information regarding registration and preparation coming in the fall.

The sacrament of Marriage is a vocation of love, unity and self-sacrifice. This most wonderful sacrament is a powerful sign and symbol of the love God has for each of us. We treasure and value the gift of marriage and wish to celebrate it with great joy and faith. Those couples seeking marriage at the parish are asked to contact the parish office at least 1 year prior to the marriage. This allows sufficient time for us to fill out the needed paperwork while taking the time to journey with couples preparing for their most special day. Preparation includes meeting with the priest (or deacon) who will be presiding at the celebration in addition to a Marriage Preparation program which takes place at the parish. Alternative arrangements may also be made in consultation with the presider. Our Marriage Prep team consists of married couples who believe that they can make a difference in the married life of a couple by preparing them for some of the challenges they will face in their married life. They provide a weekend program that is comprised of speakers on various topics and includes small group discussions. Please contact the Parish Office for further details.

Anointing of the Sick

The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a special moment of prayer for strength and healing, and a chance to realize that we are never alone in our suffering.  It is offered twice a year in each of our nursing homes and celebrated in church in an annual liturgy on the World Day of Prayer for the Sick in February. The sacrament can also be received by appointment, especially if someone is preparing for surgery or dealing with the onset of any type serious suffering. For more information or to set up a time for the sacrament, please contact the parish office
